Open House is complete!! I always feel like I can never get through everything I need in 7 minutes. Does anyone have a user friendly handout to share...looking for a new format.

About Me

I graduated from Elmhurst College 5 years ago with a degree in Elementary Education. In order to make myself more marketable, in what was becoming a difficult time to find a teaching job, I decided to get a Middle School Endorsement. I am endorsed in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts at the middle school level. I also pursued my interest in math and received a Middle School Math minor. With all that said, I went out into the work force to try and find my first teaching job. This was a difficult task to say the least. With hundreds of teachers being let go, it seemed impossible to land a job without any official teaching experience. I spent my first three years out of college working in District 13 as a teacher's aid. If I couldn't have my own classroom, I knew keeping myself immersed in an educational setting was key. I went from Special Ed Kindergarten, to 3rd grade, and then 5th grade. All of my hard work finally paid off when I was hired at Bryan Middle School in Elmhurst as an 8th grade English and Social Studies teacher. I am currently starting my fourth year teaching 8th grade English & Geometry, and I wouldn't have it any other way! While at Bryan I went back to school and received my Master's in Educational Technology. Everything has come full circle now as I've decided to go back to school to get an endorsement in Teacher Leadership from Elmhurst College.
